Hervest period
From October to November
The Primosole mandarin is a relatively recent citrus fruit, created in Italy through genetic breeding programs developed in the 1980s and 1990s by the University of Catania. The goal was to obtain an early, sweet, and seedless variety capable of meeting the demands of both domestic and foreign markets.
The name Primosole directly recalls its early ripening: it is indeed one of the first mandarins available in the Mediterranean citrus season, with harvesting starting as early as late October and concentrating during the month of November, ahead of other more widespread varieties.
We harvest our organic Primosole by hand to avoid damage to the thin rind; we select them for size and integrity, wash them, and pack them into crates. The Primosole does not require invasive post-harvest treatments, as the rind is already easy to peel and the fruit is ready for consumption.

Serving suggestions and recipes
Primosole is mainly consumed fresh, as a snack or at the end of a meal, but its sweetness and aromatic flavor make it versatile in cooking as well, used for example in salads or as a garnish for meat or fish dishes. It is also perfect for preparing jams and desserts.
